Solid Ground?

For the past few weeks, Carter has been coveting every piece of food that Vaughn and I have eaten...so we knew that the time to start solid foods was fast approaching.  Carter will grab at my cereal spoon in the morning and he will reach hungrily for every drink that he sees!  So, Vaughn and I prepared the stage tonight...we got out the high-chair, the plastic bibs, and the baby spoons and we took the leap!  Carter was a little confused at first, but towards the end of attempt number one, he seemed to be actually swallowing the rice cereal and opened his mouth for the next bite.  It was so cool to see Carter take this next step and we are so excited to watch him get to try all kinds of foods!

Carter Makes a Big Splash

Carter "swam" for the first time this weekend at Mama Du and Papa Du's house.  The water was way too cold, so he was not interested in hanging out for very long.  He was very brave and it seems like he will like to swim once the water warms up!  

My First Mother's Day

Mother's Day takes on a whole new meaning and depth when you are the actual mother and my first turned out to be great!  Carter, with the help of his very sweet father, "drew" me a picture and Vaughn framed it for me.  Vaughn helped out even more than usual so that I could take a little time for myself.  We spent some time with Vaughn's family, including his mom and Mimaw, and then we stopped by to surprise my Grandma too!  Carter's gift could not have been any cuter!  He is already showing some real artistic talent!  Vaughn and Carter will have a lot to live up to next year!  I must say that I am one lucky wife and mother--my guys are awesome! 

Anything for a Laugh

Carter laughed for the first time about a month ago, but he has decided to make it a rare and sought after occasion.  I believe that he just wants to see us act as stupid as possible as often as possible.  Vaughn triumphed and got Carter to laugh while the camera was actually functioning and in the room.  I am pretty sure I could watch this over and over and never get tired of it.  Carter's laugh was well worth the wait.

How cool are Carter and Vaughn?  I have been working late a few nights a week and apparently the boys are having quite a bit of fun in my absence.  This photo also serves as evidence of Carter's core belief...All things must belong in his mouth!
